The Plan

There are a lot of measurements in cubits and reeds mentioned in Ezekiel 40ff. But the question is why is it so important to report these details to the Israelites as mentioned in Ezekiel 40:4? One answer surely is that they need it to build the temple. But why not take the old measurements from the temple of King Salomon? And why are there so many differences?

The picture on the right shows a simple attempt to bring the measurements from Ezekiel down to a plan.

Some New Details

The details seem to be very important.

Many details in Ezekiel 40ff are something new. For example the building behind the temple in the west and the special part for the priests in the middle and the thirty chambers on the outer court and the importance of the Gates, …
Later we will see why they are so important.  But now let's talk about

An analogy to the prophet Daniel:
You want the temple to be built?
1.  Study Ezekiel 40ff
2. Pray & be ashamed of sins
3. Measure the plan and
4. Build the temple

The Necessary Process

An idea to explain is to read Ezekiel 43:10 11. The description of the temple with its specialities and its number of cubits and reeds are the factor to make the people to be ashamed of their sins. This is an analogy to Daniel 9. The number of years (70) is the factor which makes him to pray and to be ashamed (V7 8) of the sins. In both cases exactly this is the starting point to build the temple (V17 20- It was started the next year of King Darius, the second year).
So if we want to start the construction of the third temple it is absolutely necessary to have a close look on the description of the temple. Only this will start the necessary progress. It is prophesied in Ezekiel 43:10!
(1. Suffer of the violence with no peace and many failures as mentioned in Zechariah 8:10)
2. Read/ hear the description of the temple
3. Prayer & be ashamed of the sins
4. Measure the plan of the temple
5. Build the temple

But what will be the impulse when we see the description of the temple to be ashamed?
For this question we will have a look on some of the specialities:
The building behind in the west of the temple
The special district for the priests
The thirty chambers on the outer court ...
See the next these: "Similarity".
